Calor Winners Feel Heat in Oz

Australia is still the buzz word of the moment with a relentless influx of Aussie influences reaching our shores. From the revival of Peter Andre’s ‘Mysterious Girl’ to the beautiful Naomi Watts creating a stir on British shores, the influence from ‘Down Under’ continues unabated.

And it seems the Oz lifestyle is infectious, with us Brits defying not-so-sunny weather conditions to enjoy eating and entertaining alfresco. Last year gas giant, Calor, experienced a substantial rise in the amount of alfresco equipment and BBQ and Patio Gas sold and this year they are expecting this to increase further as Brits recreate the Oz factor in their own back gardens.

Calor’s consumer marketing manager, Rachel Hodge, comments: “I think it is safe to say that the UK’s demand for all things Oz is set to continue this year and we are expecting another bumper year for sales of Calor Patio Gas. Australia has some competition on its hands, the UK is hot on its heels as a barbecuing nation - and we are skilled at getting round the weather!”

Calor’s leading position was helped by the success of its promotion last year to encourage people to order Calor Patio Gas online. Through its ‘Christmas in Oz’ campaign lucky winners Kirsty Simpson and Sam Duffey from Surrey enjoyed a holiday of a lifetime in Australia.

Kirsty explains: “We had the full Aussie experience while we were out there, including Christmas lunch at the barbie and a dive at the Great Barrier Reef on Boxing Day. It certainly beat a damp and drizzly December in the UK! Sam and I had the most fantastic time and are both desperate to return.”

To keep pace with the increasing popularity of the internet as an information tool and for online shopping, Calor has revamped its Alfresco web-site, which was launched with a new look at the end of March.
